The last few weeks I have been fishing the bay's for Salmon. I have been averaging 4-5 fish hooked per day and landing anywhere from 1-3. I have had a few 5-6 fish in the boat days. The count has steadily been staying consistent, with excellent fresh eating fish. Don't forget when the heavy rains come in November the Elk and Sixes Salmon season will kick off. My winter Steelhead dates are filling fast so if you are interested in joining in or buying someone a trip of a lifetime for Christmas let me know as soon as you can.

Fishing Report 3-2-2005

I've been working on the river every day and haven't had a lot of time to update my fishing report but I thought you guys would enjoy seeing the biggest double that I have ever landed. The male fish on the left weighed 22 lbs and the female on the right weighed 14 1/2 lbs, we released both of these fish to keep the Umpqua's strain of fish big and strong. Bob is still going to have a reproduction mount made of the big male that was 40 3/4" long with a 20" girth, these are only 2 of the 10 fish they landed.

Fishing Report 2-23-2005

Sorry no postings lately, I have been fishing everyday. Here are a few pictures of the fish we have caught in the last two weeks. We have been averaging about 8 fish hooked a trip on the Main Umpqua. I fished today and hooked 11 and landed 5 with the biggest being about 14lbs. Fishing pressure has been slower during the week and heavy on the weekends. I am booked thru March now and I will try to keep you posted as I can.

Fishing Report 1-29-2005

Gary and Loren of Roseburg - This is a limit of fish caught with me on the Main Umpqua River. Fishing has been very good on the Umpqua this year. I'm going to try the Coquille tomorrow. I am now booked solid through February and I don't have a lot of days left for March, so if you would like to get in on some of this action don't wait too long. Robert

1/27/2005 Dave and Larry Long (below) from Anderson, California. This is 1 of the 9 fish they caught on their trip down the Main Umpqua River.

Fishing Report 1-20-2005

This is four of the ten fish that Archie of Redmond and his brother Jim from Texas caught today on the South Fork of the Coquille River.

The South Fork of the Coquille seems to have good numbers of fish where on most of the Umpqua system the water is still high. By Sunday the Coquille should be low and the Umpqua system should be fishing very well. The weather has been like nice spring days which has warmed the water up and made the bite even better and has made the fish more aggressive.

Fishing Report 1-18-2005

This is four of the six fish that Jim and Randy landed on Jan. 13 on the South Fork of the Coquille during low water conditions.

I fished the Main Umpqua on the 14 & 15, my best day we hooked 13 fish. Then it warmed up and started raining so I went to the South Fork of the Coquille and we hooked six and landed five before limiting the boat. Now all of the rivers are out of shape and some of them should be fishing Thursday and I will be back on the water. I am booked solid for the rest of the month and I only have six days left for the month of February and March is filling fast. So, if you are interested in booking a trip please don't wait around, e-mail me or give me a call in the evenings at 1-800-985-3474(FISH). I will keep you posted as time allows. Robert

Winter Steelhead Umpqua & Coquille rivers 1/10/05

I've been fishing on the Umpqua most of the time and have still been averaging 12-14 fish hooked a trip. Seems like 20% of the fish this year are pushing 12+ pounds. I caught one and released it that had a girth and length measurement that calculated out to 22.98 pounds. When this last storm front rolled in the barometer was dropping fast which caused the fish to go off of the bite and I struggled, only catching 2-3 fish a day for a couple of days but now that the storm has passed over we are back to catching lots of fish. I was over at the South Fork of the Coquille for a half of a day and hooked 6 fish. I've been really enjoying my new 17' Rivercraft drift boat, I've never rowed a boat that tracks better and will run a straighter line for side drifting bait. It's really nice to come home and not have sore shoulders. Robert

With the low water conditions I'd guess the Umpqua system is the best bet now...I am hoping this weekend the precipitation is enough to give the systems a little further down the state a boost for a good push of fish...

Umpqua river winter Steelhead 12/27/2004

I've been fishing winter Steelhead for the last couple of weeks on the Umpqua river system and every day has been better and better. In the last three trips I went from catching 6 fish the first trip to catching 14 the last trip on Sunday. The fish have been ranging from 7-16 pounds, although I've heard of some 20 pounders being caught. Some of the fish I've been catching have been so fresh that they still have sea lice on them. One day I had three fish break me off and I've almost been spooled twice. I'm headed back out early tomorrow and I will keep you posted.

Coquille River November 10 & 11
I fished the Coquille river near Myrtle Point the last two days and we landed 3 nice fresh Chinook each day ranging from 16 to 30lbs. There was very low fishing pressure from other fishermen. Everything that we caught was on the out going tide pulling wobblers. We are still waiting for rain for the Elk and Sixes rivers and it looks like we might get some rain this week, hopefully. Then our catch ratio will climb in numbers. If you are interested in winter Steelhead fishing please book your dates soon.

Sixes River Fishing

On Nov. 2 I fished the Sixes river and it was very murky, fishing was tough, we hooked 4 and landed 2.
On Nov. 3 the river had dropped about 4 inches and was a nice pretty green. I fished 4 holes that day and hooked 8 and landed 7 with the biggest being about 35lbs. Now it is back to being low and clear and we are waiting for some rain to get back out there.

Sixes River Fishing November 24,2004:
I went to the Sixes river and it was very low but murky with about 2 feet of visibility. I put in about 8:30 in the morning and I was the only boat on the river all day. We landed 8 adult King Salmon ranging from 15 to 27lbs, every fish we caught was chrome bright with sea lice on them and they were all full of energy. By 9:30 in the morning it was t-shirt weather and there was probably 4ft visibility by the time we took the boat out of the water at 1:00 in the afternoon. This is the first time I have ever caught fish like that during the month of October on this river, this is usually a late November/December run of King Salmon. With this year already starting off this good I can't wait to see what November and December will bring. If you are interested in a trip please let me know as soon as possible, normally I am booked pretty solid with this run but with it starting this early my normal November/December clientele have been booking sooner so I will have some opening.

Coos River Salmon Fishing

November 21, 2004 on the Coos River:
After the heavy rains fishing had slowed down, I fished 6-7 hours and only landed 3 king Salmon between 15 and 18lbs.
